Private 11968 Edwin Sagar, 1 Bn East Lancashire Regiment, KIA 3 September 1916, Menin Gate, Ypres (unknown).   Also served in 6 Bn East Lancs. 3 Reserve Bn East Lancs. posted to 1 Bn East Lancs. in a a draft July 1916.

2 Bn East Yorkshire Regiment – 83 Brigade 28 Division

A regular army battalion which was stationed in India at the outbreak of war. They returned to England in December 1914 and were assigned to 83 Brigade, 28 Division. They went over to France in January 1915. Served on Western Front until October 1915 and then went with the Division to Salonika where it remained until the end of the war.

11 Bn East Yorkshire Regiment, Hull Pals – Hull Tradesmen – 92 Brigade 31 Division

Formed at Hull on 2 September 1914. One of 4 ‘Hull Pals’, 11 Bn was known as the Hull Tradesmen; the others were 10 Bn Hull Commercials, 12 Bn Hull Sporstmen and 13 Bn T’others. They first saw action on the Somme on 1 July 1916 at Serre where they had heavy casualties. In 1917 they took part in the Arras Offensive and in 1918 the Kaiser Offensive and 100 Days.
