76 Trench Mortar Battery (3 division 76 brigade = also included 10 Bn RWF and 7 Bn KSLI)
Trench Mortar Batteries operated heavy, medium and light mortars. The 76 TMB operated Light ‘Stokes’ 3 inch Mortars. They were assigned as Divisional Troops and took their unit number from the brigade they were in – hence 76 MTB was in 76 Brigade, 25 Division, this was the same brigade as 10 Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers and 7 Bn KSLI, Oswestry Pals. Each battery had 8 mortars divided into 2 sections under the command of a Lieutenant.
