John Richard Roberts born in 1898 at Oswestry and baptised 10 May 1898, Holy Trinity, Oswestry. His parents were John and Mary Alice (nee Price). He had 6 siblings: Jessie (1891), Arthur (1892), Herbert (1896), Charles (1900), Frank (1903) and Ethel (1908). All born in Oswestry except Arthur who was born in Manchester. His father was a general labourer. In 1901 they lived at 1 Osborne Yard, Bailey Street but by 1911 had moved to 2 Machine Yard, Oswestry. No military or war details can be identified.
