Bethune. Richbourg L’Avoue. 9 Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers. 30 September 1918
On 28 September 1918 the 9 Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers relieved the 8 Bn Gloucestershire Rgt. the line in front of Richebourg l’Avoue near Bethune. On 30 September a brigade operation was ordered to capture a section of trenches. Zero hour was at 7.30am when A and D companies lead the advance. They went forward under a creeping barrage. They managed to reach and capture their objectives taking 10 prisoners and 1 machine gun. Casualties were 3 Officers wounded (1 of whom died of wounds), 11 ORs killed and 38 wounded. The battalion was relieved on 2 October moved back to Sombrin arriving there 3 days later.
