Bethune. Robecq. 24 Bn Welsh Regiment. 20 August 1918.
As the Germans withdrew a general advance was ordered to keep in contact with the enemy.
The 24 Bn Welsh Regiment were operatingĀ in the Robecq sector about 10kms north of Bethune. They had come into the line on 16 August with A & B Coy in the front line, C Coy in support and D Coy in reserve. Over the next 3 days they made steady advances of about 500 yards in pursuit of the enemy, On the 20 August they were ordered to advance and to establish a new line between Lestrem northwards to Beaupre (now the site of an industrial complex). They set off at 8.00am and by 1.00pm they were in position and in touch with battalions to their left and right. Casualties were 1OR killed and 7 wounded.
