Private 15347 Geoffrey Davies, 10 Bn King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. Oswestry Advertiser working at Border Counties Advertiser as a reporter when he enlisted in October 1914.

Private 5151 Robert C Evans, 1 Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Formerly employed in machine and publishing department of Advertiser.

Second Lieutenant BR (Benjamin Richard) Corley Rogers, 3 Bn Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment)  he started work at the Border County Advertiser before getting a job in 1906 as a clerk in the passenger department of the GWR at Oswestry.

Private 1748 Thomas L Jones, 1/1 Shropshire Yeomanry.  had worked at the offices of the Border County Advertiser, when war broke out he was working at Messrs Brunner Mond and Co Northwich, chenical works
